Application Engineer 3D Toolkit
Visualization Sciences Group (VSG) develops the Open Inventor 3D visualization toolkit, an object-oriented 3D graphics development framework based on OpenGL. Open Inventor provides the power and functionality of OpenGL at an object-oriented level . Open Inventor is powering in a large number of commercial applications in Medical, Scientific, Engineering and Oil & Gas fields.
As Oil&Gas Application Engineer, you will build and maintain the technical relationships with VSG Oil & Gas and Geosciences customers. You will need to understand customer applications, map them to our products and capabilities and help implement them. You will develop demonstrations, benchmarks, prototypes, and customized solutions based on our product portfolio. You will attend and contribute to the organization of exhibitions, conferences and seminars. You will work very closely with our sales and engineering divisions.
About 20%-40% travel is required.
Successful applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Dipl.-Ing./MSc or equivalent in computer science or a related field plus 5 or more years successful developer experience or application engineer experience
- Excellent knowledge in real-time 3D graphics programming using OpenGL, Open Inventor or similar scene graph toolkits,
- Strong skills in C++, .NET, Java and OO design
- Multi-platform software development (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X)
- Qt GUI toolkit or INT toolkit
- Dynamic programming languages like TCL, Python, or JavaScript
- Good knowledge in geophysics or geology or petrography
- Mathematics , CUDA, OpenCL a plus
- Candidates with international experience will receive priority consideration.
- Physical Requirements: This position requires excellent communication skills (listening and speaking), and the ability to successfully handle all or a number of the job functions at or about the same time, and be able to prioritize functions. Additional requirements include performing activities requiring sustained concentration, e.g., listening to and responding to customer problems via telephone and email, giving technical direction, and technical programming and analysis.
